Equipped with necessary skill set, the girls are positioned to become active contributors to the digital economy.

For 2025, the theme Girls in ICT for Inclusive Digital Transformation highlights the need to ensure that girls are not left behind in the rapidly evolving digital landscape. The theme emphasizes the power of technology to transform lives and create opportunities for girls.

To mark this significant day, the Lagos State Chapter of Nigerian Women in Information Technology (NIWIIT), led by the State Coordinator, Mrs. Folake Etomi, FNCS, visited several secondary schools across the state. Lagos chapter celebrated International Girls in ICT Day with female students in Bolade Senior Grammar School, Mafoluku Senior Grammar School Oshodi, and Unity Senior High School Oshodi. The event created an interactive forum where students engaged with women from the chapter. The forum featured interactive sessions, mentorship, and question-and-answer segments. These sessions offer guidance on building successful careers in tech and using technology to solve real-world problems. The event served as a reminder of the potential within every girl to shape the digital space.
