NIWIIT President Speaks at CyberSmart Women Summit 2025
In today’s world, where our lives are deeply woven with technology, the question of safety and identity online has never been more urgent. That’s why the Cyber Smart Women Summit 2025 conference was a call to action. At the heart of it all was Dr. Olukemi Sade Ayodele, FNCS, President of Nigerian Women in Information Technology (NIWIIT), who challenged participants to rethink what it means to live and work in the digital age.
The summit was held from 24th–27th September 2025 at Nile University, Abuja. The Cyber Smart Women Summit brought together students and IT professionals from across Nigeria. Organized by Nigeria Association of Computing Students (NACOS), the event carried the theme “Cyber Smart.”
The audience was a vibrant mix of students and IT professionals, all united by one question: how do we build safer and smarter digital lives?
Dr. Ayodele’s keynote on “Mastering Your Digital Identity & Cyber Safety” set the tone for the summit. She reminded everyone that:
- “Digital identity is as real as physical identity.”
- “Are you shaping it, or is it shaping you?”
- “Do not wait to be invited to the future. Create it!”
Her message went beyond cybersecurity. She called women to embrace intentionality in their digital footprints, using visibility and branding as tools for growth while staying vigilant about safety. It was both a caution and a challenge to lead with confidence in the digital space, rather than shrink back in fear.
The summit was a reminder for women to be intentional about their online presence. To grow professionally, you need to be seen but you also need to be safe.
Cyber Smart Women Summit 2025 underscored an urgent truth: digital transformation depends on women owning their voices online. And that aligns perfectly with NIWIIT’s mission; to foster innovation and unlock leadership potential across communities. NIWIIT will continue to create awareness around safe digital lives.
