NIWIIT Rivers State Chapter Marks International Women’s Day

The University of Port Harcourt International Secondary School came alive on 9 March 2026 as the Rivers State Chapter of the Nigerian Women in Information Technology (NIWIIT) hosted a memorable International Women’s Day event under the theme “Give to Gain”. The day centred on two topics designed to equip teachers with useful tools. The first session, AI training for teachers: empowering educators with artificial intelligence. The session introduced participants to practical ways artificial intelligence can support teaching.

The hands-on training session explored using Microsoft Office to create lesson plans and result trackers. Teachers worked directly in the school’s laboratory, designing professional lesson plan templates and result trackers in Microsoft Office. The highlight of the quiz competition was the cash award presentation by Professor Laeticia N. Onyejegbu, Coordinator of the NIWIIT Rivers State Chapter, to the first-place winner of the competition.
